ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Retail Specialists, the premier commercial real estate firm in the Southeast, broke ground for a new residential development, Amberley, in Robertsdale on Friday, April 16.

Located at the intersection of Adams Drive and Fairground Road, 290 homes are slated for the development. Homes prices are estimated to start at $250,000. Prominence Homes has been selected as the home builder for the development.

“Baldwin County is poised for growth over the next five years, so the Amberley development will target the growing demand for workforce housing in Baldwin County,” said Robert Jolly, CEO, Retail Specialists. “A new neighborhood like Amberley will help attract more retail and commercial development in the community.”

The Amberley subdivision will feature new streets and sidewalks and community leaders feel that this new neighborhood will serve as a catalyst for more dining and shopping development in the area. The development will feature charming architecture and the homes will include amenities such as quartz and granite countertops, high-quality cabinets, two car garages, and solid surface flooring along with stainless steel appliances.

“Prominence Homes is eager to being building in Robertsdale and to be a part of this great community where we can provide quality homes in the new Amberley neighborhood,” said Scott Underwood, chief operating officer for Prominence Homes.

The Amberley neighborhood is being developed by Retail Specialists, with JADE Consulting handling the civil engineering, site work by MCA Construction, Bryant Bank providing financing, and Prominence Homes is constructing the new homes.

Steve Leara, general counsel with Retail Specialists, said the subdivision reflects the growth in Alabama, particularly in Baldwin County over the last year.

“Alabama has seen continued growth throughout the pandemic, particularly in Baldwin County,” Leara said. “We believe these homes will be geared toward the continued influx of workers moving into this area.”

Amberley is one of six residential lot developments under construction by Retail Specialists. There are two developments in Cullman County, Ellsworth and Kingfisher, with additional neighborhoods planned for Weaver, Madison, and Jackson, Mississippi. All of the developments have 150-285 lots and will be phased over several years.

Leara said the Robertsdale property is one of several properties the company owns in Baldwin County, including four or five properties in the Orange Beach area, with plans to develop other properties in the near future.

Plans for the Robertsdale property include completion of the infrastructure within the coming week with construction on the first 50 lots set to begin within 90 days, Leara said.
